Note making (411 views)

Hi!

I used to be so worried about making my notes super colorful and it actually ended up taking me WAY too long to make everything pretty.  I would spend hours making my notes look good and then be too exhausted to actually study them. 

What I like to do is pick two to three pretty colored highlighters or pens.  I make a key at the top of each page of my notes.  I usually do like, yellow is key terms, blue is important information, pink is formulas, etc.  This can vary depending on the class material, of course.  But the point is, sticking to fewer colors makes it a little easier to comprehend your notes later, especially if you stick to just those colors over a period of time.  Your brain will retain information better if you use repetitive colors rather than changing up the colors each time you take notes.

Different ways you can use these fewer colors in your notes could be to do dotted lines, underline important information, highlight important words, make boxes around some information, or star some things.  You could also tie these colors into my next point below.... 

Another thing I like to do to make my notes prettier is use banners.  I love drawing these banners for titles and headings!

Mind maps are another way to make your notes more visual and pretty. You can use a bunch of different colors and make it super pretty like this!


I hope this helps at least a little! I'm not an expert though, and I'm also still experimenting with ways to make my notes more appealing
