So apparently I'm really terrible at studying for bio because I've gotten 50s-60s on all of my tests and quizzes so far and obviously this isn't acceptable at all. I make outlines and study from those but I need more tips and ideas for studying!! (We're doing biochemistry right now if anyone has any specific tips for that)

Try mind mapping! I haven't really studied biochemistry really in-depth, so I don't have specific advice to give for that. But I think mind maps are a GREAT study tool for science classes. There are so many things that relate to each other in subjects like that. In case you aren't familiar with mind maps, here is a great tutorial for them! Good luck!!

In my experience biology is all about diagrams. Honestly it sucks that CB wants students to write full paragraphs because if I had my way I'd draw everything and be done with it.
That said, it's a good study technique; you should get into the habit of drawing in your study notes (and if you don't make notes, that's a good habit to develop, I think). smentrikin20 made an excellent suggestion of drawing up mind maps; in biochemistry you will find it especially helpful to draw flow charts for everything (it's easier than writing paragraphs at least). In the exam you can just use the facts you remember from studying flow charts to bull a paragraphic essay.
